Integrative Manual Therapy
Integrative manual therapy® (IMT) is a gentle, hands-on approach that was developed by Dr. Sharon Giammatteo. IMT is based on the treatment of fascia or connective tissue, and falls under the umbrella term of “myofascial release.” The IMT approach is unique because it looks at precise human physiology from a structural perspective and offers treatment techniques for all the body’s systems. Specialized diagnostic techniques allow therapists to find and treat the true root cause of a problem. Both adults and children find this treatment very relaxing.
IMT combines and expands upon several other types of bodywork. Craniosacral therapy is part of IMT. Dr. Giammatteo developed and expanded upon traditional craniosacral therapy as developed by John Upledger.Visceral manipulation, the release of internal organs, is also included in IMT.
